EMILY NEAL
I believe that each individual is unique and deserves to have a fulfilling life. The therapeutic relationship allows me to provide unconditional positive regard, empathy, and tools for growth. My goal is to help support you by using evidence-based counseling services. I practice with a client-centered approach while cohesively using different counseling methods, such as CBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy. This allows me to meet individuals exactly where they are at, while providing tools to help them get where they want to be. In a time when overall wellness is the lowest for many individuals, I encourage my clients to connect with themselves through mindfulness and self-care. I am interested in working with adults on life transitions, anxiety, trauma, depression, stress management, low self-esteem, and family issues.
I am currently a Resident in Counseling under the clinical supervision of Tricia Mazza, LPC. I received my Masters in Counselor Education with a focus in Clinical Mental Health in 2018 from Virginia Tech. Go Hokies! Since then, I have been working as a full-time elementary school counselor. By having the opportunity to work with both adults and children, I have been able to expand my world-view and increase my skills as a counselor.
In my down time, I take any opportunity to be outside. Whether it be through taking my dog for walks or just reading a book in the sun, I believe nature has the ability to heal and rejuvenate us. I also enjoy biking and being with family and friends. I am excited about the opportunity to work with you!
