Appointments & Cancellations

In order to provide the highest standard of care and be accessible to our clients, we limit the number of clients we work with at a time and operate through routinely scheduled appointment slots. These slot frequencies are typically scheduled weekly and, very occasionally, bi-weekly.

All clients are required to give 24 hours' notice for canceling appointments regardless of reason for needing to cancel. For late cancellations, clients are responsible for payment of session fee. Should frequency of cancellations exceed twice a quarter (once a quarter if biweekly), a stricter cancellation policy will be discussed.

This policy promotes effectiveness in your therapy, ensures your therapist is accessible, and is fair to those on our wait list, as we only take on a certain number of clients at a given time.

All information shared with your Therapist will be kept confidential unless you authorize, in writing, our release of your information to specified parties for specified reasons. The exceptions to this, where we have duty to report as specified by Virginia law are:

  • Cases of imminent threat to self or other

  • Cases of suspected neglect and/or abuse of minor by a parent, guardian, custodian, or caretaker

  • Cases of suspected neglect and/or abuse of elder by their caretaker.

This practice is not able to provide crisis services at this time. If you are faced with an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

Good Faith Estimate

Effective January 1, 2022, a ruling went into effect called the "No Surprises Act" which requires practitioners to provider a "Good Faith Estimate" to individuals who are uninsured or utilize self-pay only. This only applies if you choose to not utilize any out-of-network benefits. Please click here to learn more.

Our first few sessions will be spent getting to know one another, discussing what’s led you to therapy, learning what is important to you, and allowing space to ask questions.

We will also establish your designated day and time to meet, and how often. Sessions are a combination of conversation and intervention as we talk about the events in your life (both currently and in the past) to uncover patterns, false beliefs, and various other ways of being that serve you well sometimes and other times not so much. We'll talk a lot about emotions, thoughts, feelings, reactions, and the various things that may trigger you.  We'll offer you tools for you to use in your day-to-day life. The goal is always to help you remain self-supporting present.

Most of all, we will hold space for you to practice being who you already are, making it easy for your future self to emerge.

We are out-of-network with insurance providers. However, we work with each client to ensure they seek reimbursement from their out-of-network benefits within their current health plans. In our experience most insurance companies will pay a portion of your bill after you have hit your annual deductible. It is a good idea to know your out-patient mental health benefits before you start therapy so that you will know what your portion of the bill will be.

Please visit our Out-of-Network information section to learn about Reimbursify. We will also help you understand your Out-of-Network benefits and how easy filing can be. You can also learn what questions to ask your insurance company to determine your plans OON benefits.

For organized record keeping, your payment receipts are available for you at any time within your private client account. These are great come tax time since all medical costs are tax-deductible.
